Have you ever wondered how the foundations and community departments of the major sports teams in New York City approach making a positive impact in our community? Ok, maybe not, but wouldn’t you like to know? Then you’ve come to the the spot.
I collected data through online research, met with and often volunteered for these organizations to learn about their approach and methodology in the effort to develop ideas for making a positive impact in the community through the partnership between sports teams and their young fans who want to play a role. My goal is to share my research and findings with the teams I have met with (I have met with 9 teams so far) and try to work with them to improve their impact, and also find teen partners in other cities who can replicate my project to create a positive impact in their own communities. This project will also include Community Impact Awards which were chosen by a committee of NYC teenagers that I have put together and will use my research; and my Innovative Ideas for Impact, which is my list of suggestions for exciting ways that foundations/community departments of the sports teams in NYC can increase their community impact.
